Texas Hold 'em Poker
About

Texas Hold'em Poker has four rounds of betting and is one of the fastest games in a poker room. It usually has the most players, with ten Players able to finish a hand quickly. Texas Hold'em Poker is the lowest-limit multi-player poker game.

The object of the game is to finish with the best poker hand, and win the pot.

Two to ten Players can play Texas Hold 'em at one time.

Note:
If two or more Players have the same winning hand, the pot is split equally between them.

Playing Texas Hold 'em Poker

Note:
To play Texas Hold 'em Poker you must have enough chips on the table to place a blind bet.

Texas Hold 'em plays as follows:

  1. The Players to the left of the Dealer begin the game by posting the blind bets. The Player on the Dealer's left posts a small blind, and the Player on the Small Blind's left posts a big blind bet.

    Note:
The Dealer's position at the table changes after every hand. The dealer-button shows the Dealer's position at the table.

  2. Two pocket cards are dealt to each Player.

  3. In the first round, the Player to the Big Blind's left plays first and can either:
  • Call

  • Raise

  • Fold

  • Note:
Players cannot Check in the first round of betting because the Blinds are bets, not antes.

  1. In the second round, three community cards are dealt. This is called the Flop. Players can either:
  • Check

  • Raise

  • Fold
  1. In the third round, a fourth community card is dealt, called the Turn. Another round of betting follows.

  2. In the fourth round a fifth and final community card is dealt, called the River Card. This is followed by the final round of betting. The remaining Players then use their two pocket cards and the five community cards to create the best five-card hand possible. The winner takes the pot.

If two or more Players have the same hand, the pot is split equally between them.

Note:
When a Player wins a hand, the cards that make up the win are highlighted, and the remaining cards are grayed out.

Game Sequence

The two Players to the left of the Dealer Button post the Small and Big Blinds.

Each Player is dealt two pocket cards.

First betting round.

Dealer turns over three community cards face-up, known as the Flop.

Second betting round.

Dealer turns over one community card, known as the Turn.

Third betting round.

Dealer turns over one final community card, known as the River Card.

Final betting round.

Players compare hands to determine the winner. The Player with the highest hand wins the pot. This is known as the Showdown.

Strategies

To improve your chances of winning, use the following strategies:

  • Five of the total seven cards are displayed on the second round of betting. This gives you a good idea of how strong your final hand could be.

  • To complete a possible winning combination, it is important to consider how the community cards compare with your pocket cards.
